Working for Muir Construction at Pacific Quay in Glasgow we designed, fabricated and installed a showpiece structural steel staircase for the main entrance atrium of the prestigious new office development on the banks of the River Clyde.
The entrance atrium features a glass façade which allows the feature staircase to be visible from the waterfront. On each landing the staircase incorporates a link bridge connecting the atrium to the main building. All three storeys of the staircase and the link bridges form one complete structure.
The stair features mild steel structural stringers with pan in-filled treads whilst the balustrade was fabricated using mild steel flat bar posts in-filled with 16mm diameter round bars set horizontally and is finished with a stainless steel tubular hand rail.
The cantilevered semi-circular half landings are supported by freestanding circular hollow sections and the stainless steel handrail is rolled and shaped to match the curvature of the staircase.
